How to add glossary to the search results?

Dec 06, 2018

Hi there!

Does anybody know how to add glossary terms to the search results?
I see my terms in a player, it works. Search also works. If I input a word which is exactly the same as one of the glossary terms it doesn't appear in results.

There is no option Glossary in a Filter tab as well.

Thus,  is it possible? Do I something wrong?

HI Tania,

The built-in search of Storyline doesn't search or pull from the glossary, but I've seen some examples of a custom glossary and search function that may help out. Take a look at this one discussion (it's for Storyline 2, but you could use the same in Storyline 3/360).

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the quick response! I'll create the glossary using slides and delete them from the menu. It provides me with search results, opportunity to customize the design and works correctly in a player.

However, I guess search would be useful for glossary, because If user looking for some terminology an answer is in the glossary.

Hi Paul,

Although resources and glossaries are configured in the player, they aren't actually stored in the player. Due to that, you can't share resources and glossaries with other projects or other authors by using the same player.

To share resources and glossaries, create a Storyline template.

You must start a new story from the template for the resources and glossary to populate the player. If you import the template into an existing story, the resources and glossary won't populate the player.

I wasn't sure what version of Storyline you're using, but take a look at the Tutorials for your version here for information on using templates in Storyline.
