I am creating a course in storyline and want the learners to read through the information before clicking on the next button. What I want to happen is the next button appears after a few seconds later automatically so that the learners can review all the contents.(without any addional actions like clicking the box? and then active the next button?)
I tried to apply second one(since it seems much easier to adopt), but there might be something wrong. Although I set the trigger to execute when timeline ends, next button was still disabled. Could you please look into my Storyline file as attached and make a sample trigger for me?
Looks like you're using Storyline 1 - it's been some time since I was in that version. 🙂
What you're missing is the condition on your next button to jump to the next slide once the condition has been met. Take a look at the steps here which are specific to Storyline 1.
However I couldn't apply the trigger to all slides at once, becuase it didn't work well when I selected multiple slides.(Trigger options were not activated.) Using 'ctrl+c' and 'ctrl+v didn't properly work. :(
I'm having an issue with jumping to the next slide in another e-learning as attached. I applied same triggers to all slides. For #1.1~#1.4, it worked properly however, rest of the slides didn't work well. In a preview mode, I couldn't jump to the next slide after timeline end and clicking the next button. Please help me with this.
I found that some slides in your course were set to advance By User, and others were set to advance Automatically. Starting with slide 1.9, switch the "Slide advances" setting to By User, and let me know if that helps!
Actually slide properties for slide 1.6 were totally same with slide 1.1-1.4. However, I couldn't reach slide 1.6 since the next button wasn't active. If you are ok, please preview my entire test slide to see how it works.
here is a quick video where you can find out what Leslie is asking.
She needs to know about the variable 'Continue'. Look in the variable list and click on the number next to Continue and you will see where it is used - see the video for an example.
It looks like you sent an image of your variable use - it would be helpful to share the .story file (what you're editing) here with folks so that we could see how all the triggers are set up and being used throughout the project.
You're correct JS, and thank you for the image as well as the file.
Your image and looking at your variable are why I am asking. You have triggers with a condition to Jump to Slide X when user clicks next if Continue is equal to True.
Your variable is defined with a default value of False, so when does Continue change to True? Does that make sense?
On another note - looks like Alyssa took a look at your file above as well. Did you check out her findings?
Hi all. I have created my own next button, but I do not want it to appear on the base layer until the end users have visited all of the slide layers. Can someone please give me instructions on how to do this. I'm still such a novice at Storyline 2. Thank you
Wendy, thank you. I still cannot get it to work. Would you mind looking at slide 1.3 for me and tell me what I am doing wrong. I created my own next button rather than using the one's included automatically.
trigger order is Queen...you are jumping to the next slide before executing the other two triggers.
Put the jump to below the 'change state' triggers
Change state to Disabled is looking at the Next button as the object - it should be looking at the slide so that trigger will move to the top of the trigger panel against 'slide triggers'.

Hey JS- Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
In addition to what David suggested, I wanted to pop in and share this handy reference on disabling the next button until the user interacts with the slide.
Give that a whirl and let us know how it goes!
Hello both! Thanks for your feedback.

Hi JS
which version of Storyline are you using?

Hi all,
Thanks to your help, finally i got it!

Thanks JS for the update and I'm happy to hear you're up and running!

Hello JS! I can make it to slide 1.6, but then I get stuck.
I have a question before I dig deeper. Where is the variable 'Continue' changed within your project?
Thanks for your reply. But, i can't get your point. :(

Hello~
Please find the attached file for useage for variable 'continue'. Please investigate it and let me know what I should do to proceed.

Upload it here using the "Add Attachment" button.

Hi Ashley,
Actually I already shared my story.file with folks about 14 days ago. You can find it my previous post.
You're correct JS, and thank you for the image as well as the file.

HI Mikel
see if this post helps you. I have a demo file in SL2

I think this is what you meant. For some reason my Next button won't display at all.
Do you still have the object 'Next' in the trigger - it should be slide 1.3
YOU ROCK!!!! I have been trying to figure this out for hours now!
