How to edit out part of an MP4 video from the middle

May 11, 2023

I have MP4 video in StoryLine 360, and I want to remove a few seconds from the middle. Alternatively, it also would meet my needs to edit out those few seconds of audio (or to set the volume to zero for that time period) because the image is a still frame with voiceover.

Is there a way to do any of those things in StoryLine? Or is it still true that I can only crop the ends of a video? In which case my other options (previously documented years ago) might be to insert several differently-cropped copies into a slide, or to export and edit the video in some other software first?

Thank you!

Hi Brian,

Great question! I understand you are looking to edit the middle of your MP4 video. I'd be happy to get you some information on how to do that.

As you have read, in Storyline the video editor allows for trimming, but you can't cut out a section of the video.

I have good news, though!  It looks like you're using Articulate 360, which includes Replay.  You can bring your video file into Replay and make those edits there. You can silence a portion of the audio in Replay as well.

I hope that helps!
