How to get the browser to communicate with the LMS?

Hi,

I have developed a course that is currently being accessed by learners in which they take an assessment to complete the course. If they pass said assessment then they can either return to the menu or close the course (as you can see in the screenshot). These buttons communicate with the LMS to release a certificate once they have been clicked. However we have had an issue where some learners have been selecting the browser close button instead therefore their certificate hasn't been released. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can get around this? :)
