How to make a menu slide accessible from Assessment questions?

Feb 10, 2014

I have used a course template that has a Menu slide. At the end of each scene, learners are taken back to that slide. The navigation needs to be set to Restricted.

I would like to make the Menu slide accessible as learners are taking the final assessment, because I want to allow them to look up answers if need be. However, i can't figure out how to do this without using the default menu.

Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks!

Hi Norma,

If you've set your course to Restricted within your Player menu, you should be able to return to a previously visited slide as described here:

  • Restricted: This means learners can view the current slide and any slide they've previously viewed, but they can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides.

Have you looked at adding a button on a slide master that would like to that particular menu slide so that the user could always jump back it to?

Hi Ashley,

I apologize for the delayed response. I have been playing around with this course incessantly, and I think my problem was that I was stuck on the word Menu. I finally realized there's absolutely no reason why I can't have both, i.e., the default Menu anchored at the left (which I renamed as "Course Contents"), and a Menu slide that is a launching point for each of my six lessons.

The information you provided is still very useful, and I will definitely keep that handy.

Thanks as always to you and the whole community for your help and unfailing support!

Regards,

Norma
