How to Print Button, Required Fields and Email Results using Storyline 3 (online assessment course)

Jul 30, 2018

A colleague of mine and I are using Storyline 3, and have questions around: 1) Creating the PRINT button 2) Required Fields, and 3) How to email results from assessment built in Storyline?

  1. We are creating an online assessment course using Storyline 3 where we would like to place a PRINT button on specified screen so they can print their validation score from within the course. First, for each section (course has branching) and Second, for the entire course results of the answers they chose along the way. In addition, how do we have them print their Certificate of Completion at the end of the course?
  2. Finally, how can we make the field required where we ask for their first and last name, and ensure they type in both first and last, as we want to pull their entire name into their certificate of completion for end of course print out.
  3. Finally, can storyline email results of answers chosen by learner?

Please advise. Thank you, Michelle

P.S. Thank you for any and all help!

Hi Michelle!

You've got some great questions, and I'm happy to explain how Storyline's print feature works.

Adding a Print Button:

On a quiz result slide, you'll have the option to add a Print button, which lets learners print out a summary of their results.

To include the learner's name on the printed report, double-click the Print results trigger in the Triggers panel, mark the box to Prompt the user for their name before printing, and click OK.

Completion Certificate:

Storyline doesn't have a completion certificate feature, you can create your own custom certificate by customizing the report.html file.

Email Results:

Unfortunately, there’s no way to email quiz results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent. Given these limitations, we decided not to include the email results feature in Storyline.
