Hubspot & Storyline

Oct 02, 2014

Does anyone know about moving a storyline training project that is inside our website to hubspot.  They are wanting to migrate our website to hubspot and hubspot came back with:  Your Interactive Flash file cannot be migrated to the COS as is. Overall, we recommend against using Flash content per SEO and mobile best practices.

Hi Deborah and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not familiar with Hubspot but if it's something that you'll be accessing from a mobile device, you'll want to ensure you published with HTML5 as well. You could point directly to the HTML5 output - by using the story_html5.html link, but all the files/folders within the published output including the Flash/swf files will need to be loaded up to the web server or LMS you're using.

Here is some more information on how to publish for HTML5.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I am publishing up with the HTML5 as well.  So when they tell me that using storyline flash up on my website that it is not good SEO practice is that true?  I am using training videos inside my storyline so is anything inside the actual storyline searchable via google or ? since it is utilizing flash on the website.  Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi Deborah,

I don't know a lot about SEO techniques or best practice - but a quick google search tells me, if your entire site is all Flash, not the best option for SEO. If just uploading a Storyline course - without setting some additional attributes for SEO, I don't believe it would allow the videos or content to be searchable - as even any text you include on your Storyline slides is essentially turned into an image upon publish.

As you'll see in that article I linked to, if you publish for HTML5 as well - Storyline will be able to determine which content to show your users based on how they access it.
