Hyperlink in marker not working

Sep 27, 2021

Anyone?

I inserted a text hyperlink within a marker.  This marker exists on a layer.

They hyperlink will not work.   I checked the link and it works fine.

Any ideas?

Hi, Deanna.

Thank you for reaching out!

Was the hyperlink added to the title of the marker or the body (description)?

We have a bug reported where the hyperlink in the marker header area does not work correctly. Is that what you're experiencing?

If the issue is happening on the description of the marker, would you be comfortable sharing the .story file so we can see what's going on?

This was in the body.  I selected the text, right clicked, and inserted the hyperlink.  When I click the option "Open hyperlink" it opens (so I know the hyperlink is working and copied and pasted correctly).  It's just that when I publish and go through it in Review, it highlights the text, but does nothing when I click down.

Hello Balint,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing that you're running into a similar issue. I was able to take a look at the topic shared by Deanna, and it was limited to her file, so I do not have a general resolution to share with you here.

I'd be happy to help you with what you see, though.

Is your hyperlink in the body of your marker? We have an open issue where hyperlinks in the header of the marker do not work as expected.

If the hyperlink is in the body, please share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for your reply overnight, that is very helpful.

Thank you for the reminder regarding header vs. body text – I can see now from the related entries on Heroes that authors other than Deanna have run into the same issue, and that hyperlinks in the marker body should be fine.

I’ve checked mine and indeed my linking was from the header, so I made the body text a hyperlink as a workaround, and it works fine – so thank you for helping to resolve that. Ideally, once a fix is available for hyperlinking from the header, I’d like to revert to the original setup, as it would make would more sense from a user interface logic perspective, but really it’s a bit of a ‘first world problem’, what with a pandemic, the climate crisis, and all the other crises we can pick from to be anxious about 😊

So thanks again, have a cup of hot drink, and take it easy,

Balint

Hi team,

I am also experiencing this issue and would like some assistance.  I am using the book marker to list out references for each page, some of the references have a hyperlink.  The link is accurate, but I cannot open the link when using the review format ... it just changes colour.

Any help will be most graciously appreciated

Thanks
