IMPORT FROM WORD FUNCTION LINE SPACING ISSUE

Feb 06, 2020

Hello, I am working on the translation of some Articulate Storyline files made by my customer. I am using the export/import from Word function, but this seems to create an issue with the line spacing of the text. What happens is that I see the text looking ok, but when I send the translated files to my customer, the line spacing is wrong and the text looks messy. This is not happening to me only but also to some other translators. Could you please help solving this issue? Otherwise we would have to translate the files directly from Storyline but it would take a lot longer... Thanks a lot in advance

Hi Clizia,

We are currently tracking that level of formatting with the Word translation export/import option. I'm going to add this discussion to our report so we can notify if we make any changes to the Word import/export process!

In the meantime, is using XLIFF translation a possibility for you? If so, this guide provides more details, including an example of a simple web editor for XLIFF files:

Hi Clizia!

I know this is a dated discussion, but I wanted to share an update if others come across this discussion with a similar request! We released Enhanced Word Translation in Storyline 360 (Build 3.49.24347.0), making exporting and importing Word documents so much easier!

There are many benefits to this feature, but one is preserved formatting! The legacy Word translation method removed some text formatting, such as lists and paragraph spacing. The new Word translation method preserves all text formatting, so you don’t have to spend time and effort correcting it.

Lastly, to take advantage of this feature, make sure you've updated Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!
