Imported PPT file with QuizMaker shows questions as multiple items

Sep 11, 2020

I imported a powerpoint file containing a QuizMaker quiz into StoryLine 360.  The Quiz Properties were originally set to Show as Single Item so that the students could not view each question in the menu and would only see the single quiz slide (which contains 20 questions) at the end of the course. It worked fine when published with Presenter 360. When published in StoryLine, each question became a separate slide which they could view individually at any time. That allows them to see the question and then go back into the content of the course to find the answers. How do I prevent that from happening as I did with Presenter 360? - Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Mick

Hi Mick,

Thanks for reaching out! Restricting navigation in the menu would be the quickest way to adjust access to slides. You can find this by:

  1. In the Home tab, and select Player.
  2. In the Menu section, select the gear icon ⚙️for additional options.
  3. In the Menu drop-down under Navigation Restrictions, choose which option best fits your needs.

Here are the options in the user guide here. I hope this helps!

Free: This lets learners navigate to any part of the course at any time. They can view slides in any order.

Restricted: This means learners can view the current slide and any slide they previously viewed, but they can't jump ahead or skip over slides using the course menu. If you also want to restrict the player navigation buttons, mark the corresponding box to Restrict Next/Previous buttons.

Locked: This means learners can only view slides in the order you've designed. They can't jump ahead or skip over slides, nor can they go back to any previously viewed slides using the course menu.

Thank you, Ren. I appreciate the feedback. Turned out that the issue was
that StoryLine 360 imported a QuizMaker quiz and converted the questions to
individual pages even though we selected the option to show as a single item
in the menu within QuizMaker. We created a question bank in StoryLine which
was the equivalent and deleted the individual questions. We didn't want to
lock the slides since it's sometimes necessary to move back and forth
through the content to review certain things.

Mick

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the clarification! I just wanted to provide this quick tip in the user guide below for future reference!

Tip: Question groups that are randomized in Quizmaker will be imported into Storyline as question banks. Question groups that aren't randomized in Quizmaker will be imported into Storyline as individual slides in the selected scene.
