Importing an Existing PowerPoint

My question is, what criteria within PowerPoint does Storyline require to import all the data and screen shots? I re-saved an existing PowerPoint I have as a .pptm, because when saving as a .pptx, I kept getting an error message from Storyline 360.
So, after importing the .pptm, all the wording is on the screen in all of the slides, but all of the screen shots in the PowerPoint are now gone. What do I do now? I still have the original PowerPoint, but if I have to copy and paste each screen shot, I am really not saving any time and I may as well start from scratch. Very frustrating when I already have all the information I need in PowerPoint for the eLearning.
