Importing Powerpoint into Storyline

May 08, 2012

I have tried importing a couple of different powerpoint presentations into storyline. However, after importing and opening the slide, there are items (usually grouped objects) that are not visible on screen but exist in a layer and can be selected/hidden etc. Is there any reason as to why some and not others appear on the storyline page? The items that are imported also seem to have lost any effects from Powerpoint such as bevel, shaddowing, etc.

Thanks,

Emily

Hey Emily, welcome to Heroes!

Importing PowerPoint content into Storyline is not an exact one-to-one conversion. As a result, text may look a bit different. And although most features in PowerPoint and Articulate Presenter are supported in Storyline, some are not.  Please review this article for more details, and welcome again

Hello. I just downloaded Storyline and when I try to import a PowerPoint I get an error message that says "object reference not set to an instance of an object". Any ideas

Hi Roger,

We'd like to take a look at your PowerPoint file & see what's causing the issue.  Mind submitting a support case to us & including your files?

Hi Diane - when you import powerpoint slides, a screen appears that shows all of the slides in the deck - by default they all all selected, but it you don't want to import them all, you can deselect the ones you don't want to import.

Or you can click the "None"  link to deselect all of the slides and then just click on the ones you wan to include.

I had a follow up question on this.  Previously, I had asked in another forum about the animations from PowerPoint being supported in Storyline and was told that there was probably not going to be support in this version.  I was told that since Microsoft was not introducing new animations that there was probably going to be a move away from it.  My question is that since there have been several new animations introduced in Office 2013, will Articulate re-think this and include support for at least some of the most popular animations?  Also, will there be a patch to allow bullet or text level animation?  Currently anything that you would want to animate would have to be an individual text box instead of being able to be animated as bullets.  These are just a few questions I thought I would throw out there.  Obviously we are still in love with Storyline because we just purchased more academic licenses, but there is always room for improvement.

Thanks,

Ed
