After I completed designing the slide deck, my supervisor looks at the presentation and makes suggestions or edits in her version of Storyline. She inadvertently moves slides out of order without realizing that she is doing it. Is there a way to lock down the function of moving the slides?
No. You can't prevent someone from doing certain kinds of edits.
I suggest you screen capture the Menu before you give her the .story file to edit. That will give you the list of slide titles in order. You can check her edited file against that list to see if she moved anything accidentally.
If some slides are in a different order, ask her if she meant to move them. Perhaps if you ask that enough times and the answer is always "no," she'll realize she needs to be more careful when editing the slides. 😄
Yes, there is. If the trigger jumps to a name, moving the slides can change their number, but never their order. She probably doesn’t know she is doing it. Selecting a slide thumbnail with the slightest twitch of the mouse can change order. When I got tired of re-ordering slides, I adopted a hard and fast policy of never jumping anywhere except by name. Takes longer to write, but saves a lot of time in the long run.
