Inserting Video into Articulate Storyline

Feb 04, 2019

Hello, I successfully inserted a youtube video into StoryLine and I compressed the file size but preview/publishing have been unsuccessful. Can you please provide me with tips to how to get everything to run smoothly.

Thank you,

Matt

Hey Matt,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are running into. It sounds like your goal was a file size reduction, which you succeeded at.

Have you uploaded the content to the environment it was published for? If not, that may be the issue you're running into.

When you view a Storyline 360 course on your local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that can cause various features of the course to fail. To test your published content and share it with others, it's best to upload it to a web server or LMS. See this article for details.

Good morning, Matt!

I see that you're working closely with Cleo on our Support team to see if we could isolate the cause of the lag. For folks who may encounter a similar issue in the future, here are the instructions on how to re-encode that Matt received:

Re-convert the video using a free, third party video conversion tool called HandBrake: (http://handbrake.fr/).

Here's a video on how to use HandBrake to convert videos to be used with Articulate software: https://player.vimeo.com/video/145574235

After conversion, delete the video from the slide and replace it with the newly enconded one. Then, publish your project using the Standard publish quality

Be sure to let us know if that helps resolve the delay. We're here, and are happy to keep digging!

HI Katie,

The support everyone has been giving is overwhelming, thank you. I will look into that hack,

Another issue is the seekbar. The iLearn is broken into 7 slides, playing 6 different sections of a video which in total is about 40mins.

When in a particular slide, the user drags the seekbar which takes them through other portions of the video which is not apart of the particular section.  How can I avoid this? I would like the seekbar to match with the total length of each slide and not the entire presentation.

Thank you again,

Matt
