iPad HTML States not triggering

May 22, 2014

I have several presentations developed which all work fine on a desktp however whn viewing them on iPAD (HTML) there are some issues.

I have an image set as a navigation button (an arrow) with the initial state set to hidden. I have set a trigger to change the state of this to normal on either timeline complete or to change when the state of other buttons are visited. Essentially to ensure that learners dont skip through the presentation to get to the end and ensure they complete all interactions.

All of this works fine on desktp but when viewing on the iPAD the button simply does not reveal and the trigger to normal seems not to be working.

I have published to our LMS as SCORM and have ticked HTML.

Any advice as to why this might be happending would be appreciated as I have 6 large modules that I suspect will be the same.

Thanks

Thanks Gary for sending along your file through a case - I tested it out at SCORM Cloud, where the navigation and display behaved as expected, and I suspect the display issues are connected to your LMS launching the course in an iFrame. This is an issue which has been reported to our QA team for further review, and since each LMS player is different it's also worth checking in with your LMS team to see if there is a way to force it out of the iFrame.

Being new to Storyline, I have also struggled with this issue for some time.

Are there any plans to fix this problem?

It is not unsusual for an LMS to use an iframe, and most of the time, there is no way around it.

I have tried debugging into the storyline JS code, but I would prefer not to make changes at this level, as it will end up as a bit of a bump on the workflow road...

Hi Lars,

Since it worked as expected in SCORM Cloud it's dependent on the LMS and how they'll display iFrame content. When you embed a published course in an iFrame, the iFrame takes control of the content's placement. Depending on how the iFrame behaves, content might appear to be misaligned, cut off, or even have scroll bars. If you experience these symptoms, please contact your server administrator for assistance.

Some learning management systems (LMSs) display content in an iFrame by default. If your content is misaligned or truncated in the LMS iFrame, please contact your LMS provider for support.

Additionally you'll want to ensure you're using the latest update of Storyline, which Storyline 2 Update 6 is available here.

Please let us know if there is anything else we may assist with.
