Is there a way of creating a mouse down trigger?

Nov 13, 2020

Hi

I feel like I know the answer to this already and it's no.

But I've noticed there's a trigger that gives you the option to press a key.

And you can get this to work with a slider so it moves along its path while you have a key pressed down.

But is there a way to do the same thing while you hold the mouse button down.

I can get this to work while clicking the mouse, but don't want someone to have to do multiple clicks. I've also tried the 'mouse hover' action as well, but this didn't really work very well.

I'm trying to make a sideways scrolling game and rather than use key presses wanted the slider to move when holding down a button on the screen with your mouse.

If I have to use key presses, it's not the end of the world but thought I'd check first.

Hi Arash,

Thank you for reaching out!

At this time, there isn't a trigger that can be used to pick up a mouse down event. That is something that would be new to Storyline, and if you would like to see this added, I would encourage you to share your thoughts here

In the meantime, there may be some other ways to approach this. I came across a thread that discusses using different methods to achieve a similar outcome. You can find that thread here:

I hope this helps!
