I am creating a drag and drop questions where the user drags a shovel to where they need to dig a hole. my issue is that when published the drag and drop seem to auto selecting the closest drop area instead of snapping the shovel back to start if dropped out side any drop target. I attached a screen recording of what is happening. the correct drop targets are those around the perimeter of the dotted white line.
Thanks for that helpful screen recording, Melissa! Could you share your file, or even just the drag and drop slide, so I can take a closer look at your set-up?
as you are using the Pick one freeform quiz type 'the snapping' option that is available in a default DnD doesn't apply here and I don't see where you have any triggers or motion paths to return the objects to the starting position (would be a lot of work I expect).
Since the shovels can have a drop correct/incorrect state and the drop targets are quite close together would it be possible to perhaps draw an outline around the drop targets so the user can see where they can possibly drop or is that too much of a giveaway?
Thank you Wendy for the advice and input. Adding an outline or shaded area is a good idea/ workaround, but I think for this particular activity it might give too much away.
I agree with Wendy in that the targets are quite close together. If any part of the shovel is touching the drop target, it seems to auto-select that target.
Is there a reason why you decided not to use the built-in drag and drop interaction for this activity?
Yes, with the built in drag and drop you can only assign on drop target to one object. The shovel have three different drop targets that can be placed on for the question to be considered correct.
what about if the red side panel could slide out (have it on a layer that starts on timeline start and closes then the user clicks a button) when the user has read the instructions and the image is increased to fill the whole slide (might give you a bit more wiggle room)

Here is my storyline file.

Alyssa, what do you think see anything different?
