JAWS Not Reading Text Boxes in My Storyline 360 Output

Jul 15, 2022

Hi, I am running the most current version of Chrome, Articulate Storyline 360, and JAWS, but the only text JAWS will read in my Storyline files are the instructions in text input boxes. It also reads the slide names. That's it. What do I need to do to get JAWS to start reading all slide text content?

Hi Janet! JAWS should read the screen content like text if you use the up/down keys. If you use the Tab key, which lots of people test out when they're testing their course with a screen reader, the Tab key only takes the user to the next interactive element in the slide. Here's a quick Peek of me going through one of your slides with NVDA (which should work very similar to JAWS) and also a look at your focus order. You may want to set a custom focus order and remove some of those shapes that don't have any context for a learner using a screen reader. I hope this helps!
