Jumping to a specific slide known at runtime!

May 10, 2015

Hi there,

I have this scenario that I want to do in Storyline but I don't know if it is possible.

I have several slides for say a course and another quiz slides in the same project. In each course slide there is a 'take quiz now' button that will take the learner to the first quiz slide. In each quiz slide there is a button that should take the learner to the last course slide that the learner was in (in case the learner thinks she needs to learn more). I thought about saving the slide number in a variable and then use it in a trigger to jump to the slide with the number in the variable but I think this isn't possible since I didn't find a way to specify the slide number in the Trigger Wizard.

Is there a way to do this? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you,

Hi Shahera,

Storyline doesn't allow you to specify a slide number for reference as part of a URL or similar, but you can set up triggers to jump to specific slides. In your scenario are the course slides and quiz slides all in the same file? If so, the previous button by default will direct the user back to the last slide they saw.

Hi Ashely,

Thank you for your helpful comment,

Yes the course slides and the quiz slides are in the same file. But there are several quiz slides, so if the learner is in the second quiz slide the previous button will jump to the first quiz slide not to the last course slide the learner was in.

But I tried to put the course slides in a scene and the quiz slides in another scene in the same file, and in each quiz slide a button that jumps to the previous scene, and it worked! it jumped to the last slide the learner was in before moving to the quiz slides.

Thank you very much!
