Likert screen

Jan 22, 2013

Is there a way to limit the number of responses to a Likert scale, so you could have 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7 choices?

Can I change the Likert definitions for the different ratings?

Dave, Tom, somebody help, please.

Welcome to the community, Heather!

I'm not sure what method Alan ended up using. Are you just wanting to change the amount of options in the scale and the topics?

You should be able to do this pretty quickly by clicking on the "Scale" button in the lower right-hand corner of the quiz window:

To remove an option, just click in the field associated with it and delete the text (be sure to remove any additional spaces). To edit, do the same and type in the new text you'd like to use.

To add additional options, click in one of the blank spaces and add the text you'd like to display.

If this isn't what you're trying to do, or if you have any questions, please just let me know.

Thanks and welcome again!

Thank you.  I was working on a survey yesterday and was faced with the same issue.  A few more questions please.  I found that by removing the numbers on the scale reverted to the scale labels.  I had three labels;  Agree, Neutral, and Disagree.  The "Neutral" did not appear and I was curious if only the first and last labels are supposed to appear?

Also, if the survey is published in Storyline and uploaded to a LMS, is there a way to be e-mailed the survey results?  I only found that there was a print option for the survey participant.  When I did a little more research, I only saw that this may be an option if the survey was created in Quizmaker.

Thanks for all your assistance,

Elizabeth

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Elizabeth :)

A little confused about your first question. Did you delete the label(s) or number(s) from the slide itself, or from the scale options?

Sounds like you had the three options enabled, but only two of them (Agree and Disagree) were appearing on the slide. Is that right?

Are you able to share a .STORY file where this is happening? If you have an option enabled, it should be displayed.

For your second question, I'm afraid that emailing results, survey or otherwise is not currently supported in Storyline. We want every feature in our software to work well. And, unfortunately, there’s no way to email results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent. Given these limitations, we decided not to include the email results feature in our products anymore.

Having said all that, there are a few threads you might want to check out that may help you with this:

I hope this helps :)

Thanks, Christine!  I am running in to the same issue as Elizabeth.  Once I was able to get 4 buttons, rather than 5 (I swear I was doing as you described and it wasn't working; it works now!) only "Strongly Disagree" and "Strongly Agree" appear.  The other labels appear when I hover over the corresponding buttons, but not at the head of the columns.

Please see slide 1.7 Evaluation.

Thanks for your quick response and help!

One other question - Once the user submits their response, I would like them to go to slide 1.3 Orientation to Tabs.  I created a trigger for this.  However, the "Submit interaction" trigger seems to be taking them to slide 1.8 when the user clicks submit.  What am I missing?

Have  I mentioned - thank you!!

Hi there Heather,

Thanks very much for the file! Great looking course :)

This is certainly strange behavior. However, I was able to find a bug report on this issue. Looks like this can happen sometimes when one of the options is modified or removed. We're currently investigating this issue, so hopefully we'll be able to find out why this is happening and provide a solution for this.

In the meantime, a quick workaround that comes to mind is placing a text box as a label. I know it's not the most elegant of options, but it should at least help with finishing up your project :)

For 1.3, I simply moved the order of the triggers you have in the slide. This seems to be working.

Can you take a look at the modified file and let me know if this works for you?

Thanks!

Christine

Ah, great.  Both solutions are simple and easy, just the way I like it!

Which leads me to another question ... I assume the "submit interaction" triggers will allow me to report on user responses when I upload the finished presentation to Articulate Online.  However, I can;t figure out which report I am supposed to use to view users' responses.  Do you happen to know?

THANKS!

Christine, thank you.   Just to clarify, I removed the numbers from the Scale Options by unchecking Show numbers on scale.  It sounds as you stated, the temporary solution is to do a text box as a label, since on the slide itself will not allow the label to be changed or deleted.

Also, the font on the scale labels are not the same either.  I am sorry to be a pain.  I am new to all of this so most of my confusion is because I am

Good morning ladies! :D

@Heather,

Fantastic! Happy to hear Pete was able to help you out. He's a rock star :)

@Elizabeth,

Correct - that's an issue we're working to resolve. For now, you can place a text box in place of the labels. It will take a little manuvering to get the text just right but it's possible to make it appear as though it's a part of the list.

Thanks for the screenshot :) You'll want to adjust the font size for that text and position it it over the radio buttons. If you want to, you're welcome to share a .STORY file with that slide. I'd be happy to try and get the labels set up for you.

I hope you both have a great day!

Christine
