Loss of audio quality

Aug 25, 2022

Hi,

I've been running into an issue.  I've inserted 3 videos into a Storyline project that were made in Camtasia and then turned into mp4.  The issue is the sound quality deteriorates when I insert them in Storyline.  I looked at compression but it's set to automatic and is grayed out.  Is there any way to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. We do have a known bug that we're currently tracking which prevents certain audio profiles from being compressed, so I went ahead an opened a support case for you so we can take a look at the audio quality issues you're experiencing, as well as the behavior with compression. Your case is in good hands, and someone from our support team will be in touch with you shortly!

I have the same issue - degraded audio because I cannot turn off the Compression option in SL, the dropdown is greyed out. Articulate's guidelines regarding how to avoid greyed out Compression dropdown include making sure the video is not edited in Storyline editor, that the publishing settings are right (e.g. using the Baseline profile) - but even after making sure that's all in order, the problem persist. I've seen some folks complain that it happens when you replace a video, and that's my experience too, so I don't do that anymore, but the problem is still there. I had this issue for a very long time, and it would usually go away if I deleted the video from SL and from my folder, closed SL, exported a video from my video producing tool (Camtasia) under a new name, and then inserting it back into SL. But not even that works anymore, I'm stuck and can't share my course with my stakeholders because it sounds bad.
