I created a storyline project with a pre-and-post test and everything went well until............ I just opened it and all of the questions lost their question editor!! In other words, the editor that is found in the right upper side of the slide in the format mode is lost.
It sounds like perhaps you lost the entire trigger panel on the right-hand side. At least, that's what I'm seeing. When the trigger pane is "hiding", the question editor panel is also hiding.
Move your mouse way over to the right side of your screen and click and drag left.

I personally have found that it's sometimes easier to do this in Story View. That's not an official tip, just my own personal experience.
And, you may have to really "tug"...be really insistent, since Storyline doesn't always like to unhide the pane once it's gone hidden!
and the trigger panel should come back.
Then, when you switch to slide view, you should be able to see the Question Editor.
