Many questions...

Jan 22, 2013

Hello,

I have many questions from some of our clients :

1) Is it possible to create a start point and an end point for an animation ? I think it is not possible but I would like to be certain of me.

2) When I create a shape (but also a a slide or a layer) the timeline is 5 seconds long: is it a way to modify this ? Maybe in a config file ?

3) In the next version of Storyline (majour or minor) will there are any others animations, like the ones in Powerpoint for example ?

4) In the same way like the second question, are there some others config files we may customize ?

5) Is there any way to modify the Results.ScorePoints or Results.ScorePercent ? If no, will it be possible in the next verstions?

6) Is there any way to modify how a quiz calculate the score ? I mean, if the user answer before 1 minute I want he has 100% but if he answers less than 30 seconds I want he has only 50%. Is it a possibility?

7) Do you know when the translate version of Storyline will be release ? (I don't ask for a precise date but about.)

I know I have many questions so thank you very much for your answers !

Hi Sebastien,

Let's go over this.

1) There's no "motion tweening" yet available in storyline, nor is there a way to control start/end point speeds apart from the 5 values (very slow to very fast). You could create a copy of the element before/after your animated one, the first one without any animation, and then tinker with the timings in the timeline.

2) This is the default timing. Can't really change that.

3) That is a question some member of staff can answer.

4) None other than the player panel and any html hacks you may employ after publishing.

5) You can't directly tinker with Results.ScorePoints or Results.ScorePercent, but you can use triggers and variables to your advantage.

6) Yes you can. I will answer this generally since the circumstance/scenario you want to achieve this in, is not that clear. Create a 30sec element (any element) of screen and a trigger in the form of : Change state of {element} to hidden when timeline ends of {element}. Then create another trigger during your submit action in the form of : divide the score awarded for the correct answer if {element} is hidden.

7) You can translate player output in the player options. You can also translate your content by exporting to .doc or .xliff and then reimporting the translated content. You need Update1 or greater for the latter though.

Hope it helps,
Alex

In regards to Point 3, there have been mentions of some powerful animation ability in v2.

Saying that, there's little point just being a PowerPoint clone - whilst trying to break from a "PowerPoint mentality", (which SL is trying to do in many respects...).

Articulate never pre-announce or pre-release features for new versions, or dates.
