Modern Player - Title and Navigation alignment

May 24, 2018

Hey,

My company is currently reviewing the new Modern Player. There is a lot to like about it. However, there is one MAJOR issue holding us back from making the switch. Our problem is with the Title and Navigation alignment. Using the Classic Player for our software simulations allowed us to lock the player size which helped to ensure that the Title and Navigation in the player were aligned with the actual content. With the Modern Player, the Title is to the far left and the Navigation is to the far right. We are worried that some users will not notice the navigation so far away from the actual content. You can see what I am talking about in the two attached pictures. Is there anyway I could make the Title and Navigation align better with the screen capture? Is there anyway to change the color of the navigation buttons so they may be easier for users to see and recognize?

Thank you!

Jeremy

Hi there Jeremy! Glad to hear you're checking out the new modern player! 🙌

The modern player always completely fills the learner’s browser, leaving no white space around the player. That means if they have a widescreen monitor with the browser open fullscreen, they may see extra space on either side of the slide.

But as the browser window is minimized, the modern player adapts to the window size, like this.

The navigation button color is set by default, but I'll definitely let our team know there's a need to customize that color. In the meantime, you might explore using custom navigation buttons on the slide stage and removing them from the player completely.

Hi Jeremy -- I wanted to circle back and ask if the course you shared in your screenshot is hosted on a learning management system. If so, which one?

Hi Vanessa -- Would a white player work better for you? You have the option to choose a Light (white) or Dark theme. You can also make the Modern Player chromeless by following a few simple steps. Check out this tutorial!
