I have some stock photos, which I can open and view. I inserted some into my Storyline activity, and now they are showing as a blank white object. I tried to re-insert them, and they still show up as blank white. Any idea why this is happening?
I've replaced the two non-working photos. I think it may have been the photo files, not Storyline. This has not ever happened before, and is not happening now.

Be sure that you are inserting as shown here and utilizing a supported format.
They were working for you before? Does this happen in a new file as well?
Would you be able to share your .story file so that we could take a look?
