Mysterious Slide Layer

Oct 10, 2022

I am brand new to Storyline and I’m creating a game as a knowledge check.  I followed the How to Build a Simple E-Leaning Game in Articulate Storyline except instead of creating a scene, I just created a slide within a scene.  It looked great up until I finished all the layers for my questions.  Once I had all the question, correct feedback and incorrect feedback layer copied, I previewed the slide, and it looked great.  I saved the project and came back to work on the introduction and conclusion layers and now I have a mysterious correct feedback layer overlaying my base layer.  When I preview the slide the correct feedback layer does not show over the base layer and the thumbnail in the Slide Layers section and the Story View show my base slide.  However, when I’m in Slide View the mysterious layer is over my base layer so I cannot set my markers where I want them.

Additional information, if I duplicate the base layer the mysterious layer is not on the new slide but, I can't delete the base layer to replace it with a duplicate.  If I add a new layer to the slide, it adds as the "Correct Feeback" layer; however, it seems to just be an image as I cannot select any of the objects on it.

Does anyone know what I might have done to cause this mysterious layer to be displaying over the top of my base layer?

Hi Joe,

Thank you for responding!  I've tried a few different things in this project so the project file is a bit of a mess, but if you'll excuse my mess, I will share it here.

The slide with the mysterious layer is slide 1.86 and it's the Knowledge Check Game (Base Layer) where the "Correct Feedback" layer is showing over the top.  I continued on with the project which has allowed me to figure out that it is the Q7 Correct layer overlaying the base layer.

I tried to duplicate the layer and show the duplicated layer when the timeline starts, which worked except I have to figure out how to reset all the triggers to function properly.  I was just in the process of recreating the entire slide when I received your response.

Attached is my project file, again please excuse my mess, it's a work in progress.

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Hi Joe,

I started over and made a new slide for my knowledge check game.  If you are still trying to figure out what I did you can stop and please delete my project file.  In creating the new slide, I was able to figure out that the mysterious layer happened when I drug the Introduction layer down in the list.  I'm not sure if it was because I paused in my dragging or what.

I have deleted the troublesome slide from my project.

Thank you for looking into this for me!
