Navigating 3 levels

Jan 03, 2014

Hello,

I have a course in which I introduced 3 levels of navigation.

In order to navigate from one level to the next, I created a trigger button in the slide master, that jumps up the the previous scene. However, although it works well one time, if I were to jump back and forth from one scene level to the next, it jumps fully randomly after the second time. Has anyone ever encountered that ?

The only way I found to counter this erratic behavior is to include a trigger button directly on the slide, but I don't feel it is normal.

Hi Anne and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not fully understanding your navigation set up, and it may be easier if you're able to share the .story file here with us (or even a sample file with the same navigation).

In the meantime, you may want to check the following items that could cause odd Storyline behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.
  • Are you using update 4 of Storyline? There were some fixes including one associated with triggers on a layer of slide master not working correctly.

If you're unable to share the file here in the forums you're also welcome to send it along privately to us here.
