Need help with transitions

Mar 06, 2019

I have a question regarding whether or something can even be done. I'm putting together a new employee orientation presentation with Storyline 3. My manager wants me to add an animation that I'm not sure about. I love the idea, but I'm not sure if I can do it.

I'll try to dumb down the need as succinctly as possible. He more or less wants an intro to a section slide with the 3 slides for that section as smaller icons on the slide. He wants the transition to zoom onto the first slide to cover that and then zoom back out. Zoom into the second slide, zoom out, and likewise with the 3rd. I know I can transition slide to slide, but is that something I can do?

Thanks for helping a rather new user.

Hi Jason,

you might want to have a look into Zoom Regions, maybe this is what you need. :)

I build you a sample with a starting slide. When you click on the green box (1) you go to the second slide which is zooming in. When the timline of slide 2 is ending you are switching to slide 3 which is zooming out. With some triggers like pausing the timeline/jumping to a content slide and your content slides between the zoom in/zoom out slides you could build what your manager wants, if I understood his wish correctly. :)

Hi Jason,

Slide transitions will only occur at the start of a slide, so there isn't a built-in method to add a zoom out transition to the end of a slide. Perhaps you could look at adding the additional slides in as images, and using the Zoom picture option? That would give you the zoom in/out for each item based on a users' click.

You could also do something similar with a zoom region appearing on a slide layer to show the larger view of a "slide".
