Negative scoring
Jul 09, 2015
Hello,
I know this has been asked before but the thread may have gone cold, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any joy with negative scoring for multiple choice questions.
I have a scenario whereby if there are 4 choices and 3 are correct yet the user selects all 4 options they should only score 2 points instead of the 3 points for just getting the correct answer outright.
Hopefully someone else has come across this recently and had more joy than me. I have tried doing it as a select many type question where a variable of score is added by 1 when the user selects the right answer and the state changes and the wrong answer reduces the score, dependant on the state of the object. I am on the right path?

Hi, Matthew -- I know the following is for SL1, but maybe check it out to see if it's in line with what you have in mind?
Thanks Christine, I'll take a look.
Wasn't quite what I was after but I have managed to sort it with triggers and a variable. I'll share the template with the community once I'm done.
Thanks again for you help.
Thanks Matthew for the update and we look forward to seeing what you've come up with!
Hi Ashley,
This is what I've come up with, Essentially I needed a question where the user could still get marks despite technically getting the question wrong. I've also added a result slide to try and trigger recording within an LMS.
The source file is attached if anyone is able to use it, actually turned out that I didn't need it (typical)
Anyway, you can have a look at it here.
Looks great, Matthew, and thank you for sharing your file and an update! :)
Thanks Christie, hopefully someone will get some use out of it.
