new to SL and having problems with quizes

Nov 11, 2022

I have 2 questions that need to be placed at the end of 2 separate scenes. How do I place them and when the quiz is done, how do I have the student go to a you're now finished with the course slide? Also, I want to get rid of the previous button!

Insert the question slides like you would any other slide.

By default, question slides show only the Submit button. However, if you allow someone to revisit a quiz slide without resetting it, Storyline automatically adds the PREV and NEXT buttons to allow the user to navigate away from the question slide.

Strangely, the way to control the PREV and NEXT buttons for a question slide is to first add them to the slide via the Slide Properties:

Note: You can also adjust button visibility for standard slides via their Slide Properties.

After you add the PREV & NEXT buttons to a question slide, the program will let you add "Change state" triggers to hide, disable, or enable them. For example, if you want to hide the PREV button, the trigger would look like this:

For any slide at the end of a scene, you need to edit the trigger for the NEXT button so it jumps to the next scene or to whatever specific slide you want it to go to (instead of jumping to the next slide). For example:

It's unclear whether you want the user to jump to your end-of-course slide after either question slide or only after the 2nd question slide. In any case, edit the trigger for the NEXT button so it jumps to the appropriate slide.

FYI: Unless you add a Results slide, the program won't send a score to the LMS. See below for links to the User Guide's basic info about quizzing.

Hi Andrea,

If your Storyline 360 installation is crashing, make sure that you're working locally to reduce the risk of encountering any issues. If you are already working locally, try doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation to see if this will help.

It also looks like you meant to attach a project file in your response. You can attach the file by clicking on the 'Add Attachment' button in your response so users subscribed to this thread will be able to see it. Alternatively, you can also open a support case with our team if you're encountering any issues with your project file.
