I'm really struggling to add a condition to the trigger, 'next slide when user clicks next button'. I don't want them to be able to advance to the next slide unless the timeline ends, but I don't want it to automatically go to the next slide either - I want them to have to click the next button. I'm pretty sure I've gone through courses that are like that, but I can't for the life of me work out how to get it that way in mine!
The simplest way to achieve what you are trying to do is:
Add an off-screen basic shape (so the user won't see it), set the initial state to hidden and ensure that it is on your timeline for the entire duration of your slide
Add a trigger to the slide that changes the state of this shape to normal when the timeline of the slide ends
You can now add a condition to the 'jump to next slide when the user clicks next' that says "on condition that the state of [off-screen shape] is equal to normal
