Next slide user clicks button trigger with condition

Oct 10, 2013

Hi everyone,

I'm really struggling to add a condition to the trigger, 'next slide when user clicks next button'. I don't want them to be able to advance to the next slide unless the timeline ends, but I don't want it to automatically go to the next slide either - I want them to have to click the next button. I'm pretty sure I've gone through courses that are like that, but I can't for the life of me work out how to get it that way in mine!

Please help.

Best wishes,

Elena

Hi Elena - welcome to Heroes!

The simplest way to achieve what you are trying to do is:

  • Add an off-screen basic shape (so the user won't see it), set the initial state to hidden and ensure that it is on your timeline for the entire duration of your slide
  • Add a trigger to the slide that changes the state of this shape to normal when the timeline of the slide ends
  • You can now add a condition to the 'jump to next slide when the user clicks next' that says "on condition that the state of [off-screen shape] is equal to normal

I hope this helps
