No changing answers when reviewing the quiz

I am working on an exam where once the user has taken it and submitted the results, I want the answers to remain locked because the instructor would like to have the trainees go back into the exam and look at each question as a group. Note, they do not receive feedback on each slide; they just go through the exam and get a final score at the end. 

I am having a couple of problems with this.

Problem 1: When they go back in, they are taken to the first question they got wrong, not the first question on the exam.

Problem 2: I can't seem to be able to turn off the ability to change their responses when they review the exam.

Problem 3: I can't seem to be able to show them the answer they selected when they review the exam.

Each slide is set to Resume Saved State; I assumed that meant when they went back in, they would see the answer they had selected but could not change their answers. Nope. If they got an answer wrong, they can change it. I have removed the review and retry options on the Results page, but that hasn't made any difference.

What am I missing?

Hi Diane!

Storyline has a built-in quiz review function on the Results Slide. When the learner clicks the "Review Quiz" button, a few things will happen:

  • They'll be taken back to the first quiz question
  • The answer choices will be locked -- they cannot change their answer
  • They'll be able to see if they got the question correct or incorrect
  • They'll be able to see which answer choice is correct

It sounds like you removed the "Review Quiz" button from the results slide. Can you tell me more about why you don't want to use that built-in functionality?

Hi there!

The instructors want the trainees to finish the exam and log out. They continue with their training and then go back later in the day or the next day to review the exam so having the trainee remain in the exam isn't possible. If they log back in on another date, will the "Review Quiz" button still work?

Hello Diane,

If you have the resume behavior set on the overall course, this should work as expected.

I'd set it to 'Always Resume' based on your description. Check out the documentation here.
