STRANGE BEHAVIOUR : No continue button on question slides when revisiting

Jan 29, 2019

I'm using Storyline 360. In my course I have several quizzes. The user has only 1 attempt at each quiz and there is no "Review Quiz" button on the Results Slides.

If the user revisits the question slides by returning to previous lessons, everything works as it should : the answer (correct or incorrect) given by the user when he took the quiz is displayed on each slide with the « Continue » for the user to keep going.

For some reason, there is a problem when the user revisits the question slides after having taken the last quiz. What happens then, is that the CONTINUE button is not displayed with the answer, so the user is stuck on the first quiz he happens to revisit.

This is a big course with several hundred slides, so I recreated a smaller, bare bones version of it and I am submitting the file here for someone to review.

In this small sample, there is only 3 quizzes with 2 questions each. If you do only the first quiz or the first and the second quiz, you’ll be able to revisit the question slides and the "Continue" button will be available for you to advance. If you take all 3 quizzes, the "Continue" button will not display when you revisit any of the quizzes.

Hi there, JC.  Thanks for sharing your file.  I saw the same behavior, and I tested a few different solutions to identify when the problem is happening and why.  It was perplexing!

I noticed that if I added previous buttons to the questions in Quiz 3 and took them first, I could revisit the question slide until I got to the results slide.  I attempted to rebuild all of Quiz 3 with a new results slide, but I still saw the same behavior.

I'm going to share this issue with our support engineers for further help understanding the issue and finding a workaround.

I'm having a very similar and probably related issue. When a learner submits an incorrect answer to a quiz, the "Incorrect" slide layer appears as it should. However, the "continue" button frequently disappears from view. It's still there, like a ghost- if the learner hovers over where the button should be, the spot is clickable. I haven't found a consistent circumstance for this behavior.

Hey Todd,

That's really strange! What version of Storyline are you using?

We recently released an update to Storyline 360 that included a fix for an issue in Chrome where slide objects would disappear behind other objects, and it sounds like you're seeing that behavior.

To verify that you're on the latest update, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.25.18009.0 in the bottom-right corner.
