I inserted a web object into a slide (a YouTube video) and it looks great in preview. However once I publish my project, the web object does not appear. What gives?
Are you testing locally (on your harddrive)? If yes then the webobject is blocked by your browser's security settings. Upload the published content to some server and test again.
Are you able to share a copy of the project and we could try on another server to see if that's blocking the web object? Or you could use one of the options mentioned in this article.
I already gave up. What I ended up doing was capture a short segment of the YouTube video using ScreenFlow, exporting that as an mp4 and popping the mp4 into Storyline with a hyperlink below it sending the user to YouTube to watch the whole 10 min video.

I did upload it to our server here at work (which houses all of my 'regular' projects) I viewed it on our website and no web object.
