Novice here - help needed

Oct 03, 2018

I work in a highly regulated field and my company its own bespoke point of sale system; which delegates have to demonstrate a degree of competency before they can be signed off.

Currently, they go onto a live system and input a case study which is then manually checked and I have been tasked with digitising this process, as growth is high on the company’s agenda.

I am looking at using Storyline to capture the system, xAPI to score on Learning Locker and Curatr to display.

For the most part it will be a data input exercise, so I have no worries there. However, there are two areas of concern.

First, they need to make notes – The phrasing is not important but they will need to include several key words. - Is it possible to score against these key words using xAPI?

Secondly, they need to upload supporting documents. I have never used Storyline before so I just wanted to as whether it is possible to have delegates upload documents into the assessment? Or would I need to open a pre-populated email for them to attach them to?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer

Andy

Hello, Andy! Excited that you joined the community! Let's get right to your questions.

  • Keyword scoring with xAPI: This is a really cool idea, but it's not a feature in Storyline at this time. However, you may be able to achieve this using Javascript! Check out this tutorial from one of our talented superheroes, Matthew Bibby.
  • Upload supporting documents: Are you using a learning management system (LMS) to deploy your course? If so, your LMS may have a feature that allows learners to upload documents. If not, your idea to open a pre-populated email would be the way to go. Try using the "send email to" trigger, and check out this discussion for the steps on how to pre-populate the email subject and body text.
