When you add a numeric entry field, SL creates a variable to store the entered value. Because variable names must be unique, it names the first one NumericEntry, then adds a number to each successive one. NumericEntry is used to store the value the learner enters into one numeric entry box, and NumericEntry1 is used to store the value entered into a different numeric entry box. In writing triggers, you can use either of them randomly.
