I have a course I am converting from LMS compatibility to CD / Flash drive deployment. I can't seem to get my certificate to print. I've tried the swf file that works on the LMS and I've also tried just window.print(); The first one prints a blank page and the second produces an error. Is there a preferred way to print when using CD output?
Are you using the Print results button on the results slide, or a custom Javascript to set this up? There are some known reasons why the print may not work, specifically the pop up blocker or security restrictions of a browser.
No, we are trying to print a custom certificate, so we need to use an alternative method. Would the security issues you mention apply for CD output? Is the wrapper/player that's created actually just the default browser with a different icon?
Ah, a custom certificate could still cause issues with the browser security based on the Javascript. The community may have more experience and expertise with that so I'll leave that to them!
The CD output will playback in a version of IE and be the Flash output for Storyline 2 or the HTML5 output for Storyline 3.
It should work...but if it's not, a common issue is the security restrictions within browsers. You may want to confirm how your browser handles that type of Javascript code and if it'll allow for the new window/pop up and access to the print controls.
New direction: I'm popping up an HTML cert and printing from there. In CD delivery mode, this seems to be working. I'm convinced my corporate IT environment has done... something to our IE to jack it up in some way that produces little mysteries like this.
Thanks for the updates Paul, and way to stick with it. 😊 Let us know if you find out anything specific about those browser settings. Others in the community stand to benefit!

Hi Paul! Thanks for asking. You should be able to use the print results feature from your CD output. Which version of Storyline are you using?
2. I have 3 though. Would moving the course to 3 help?
no suggestions?

So, the javascript window.print(); thing -should- work, right?

Alright. I'll take a look. Thanks.
New wrinkle:
1. I ran the same course using HTML output.
2. I ran it in IE11. Same result as running CD output. Print fails.
3. Ran it in Chrome. Successful print.
What does this mean?
