Persistent Menu for Software Simulation (Problem: Slide Master Layer is Delayed)

I am creating a software simulation and would like a persistent menu.

I achieved this by creating a menu on a layer on my master slide so that it would appear on top of every regular slide. I created a trigger for this master slide layer to show "When the timeline starts on this slide." The problem is that when I view my simulation, there is a delay in this master slide (with my menu) showing. To the user, it appears that the menu disappears and then reappears a few seconds later with every one of their clicks.

Any suggestions for fixing this disppaearring/delayed appearance problem or for a different method for creating a persistent menu? Many thanks!

    Hi Stephanie,
What you describe should work fine.

Its a technique Ive used many times in the past for  menu bars, status indicators, scores, game menus, etc.
So the good news is, your idea should definitely be able to work without disappearing/reappearing every slide.

I think Phil is correct, maybe there is an animation or transition present on either the slide, the layer, or the menu itself (or buttons therein?)

  • Thank you, Phil and Andrew!
I can't seem to find any transitions; however, I was able to solve the problem by changing the trigger to "when the timeline reaches time 0m 0.01s"
