Player Menu graying behavior

Apr 18, 2014

I've been trying to find a setting or some way to control when the items on the player menu change from black to gray.

My course is made up of several scenes each containing varying numbers of slides. Navigation is straight forward with NEXT and PREV buttons that step the learner through every slide in every scene. My menu settings are pretty much default with FREE navigation.

I would like the menu item for a scene to turn gray once all of it's slides have been visited and are gray, but what seems to happen is that it will only turn gray if the learner actually clicks on it in the menu. This doesn't give the learner much information and is actually misleading: a scene with slides that have not been seen can be gray implying to the user that it's completed.

Can't find a way around this. Is there a setting or a workaround?

Thanks,

ma

Hi Mary Ann,

That's the built in behavior of the Storyline menu, although you may want to look at changing the player colors completely to make it less noticeable to your users. You'll want to refer to this job aid which outlines what items are controlled by those in the list.

If you're comfortable with Flash coding, you could also customize your menu further using the Storyline SDK.
