I'm experiencing a problem with the playhead that I swear is a new thing, but maybe I'm just noticing it now.... when I click an object to adjust the position on the timeline, the playhead jumps to that object's start point and I end up dragging the playhead instead of the object. It's causing me to lose my playhead position when I need it for reference and makes for a lot of clicking around that is driving me crazy. Is this a new thing and is there a way to make it stop?
I'm sorry to hear you've hit this snag! This feature was added relatively recently called Timeline Visualization. I answered a similar question, and I'd like to share it with you as you might find it helpful.
You'll see the timeline playhead jump to the start of an object when Timeline Visualization is enabled. You can turn this feature off, as shown below.
