Printing results of matching drop down quiz

Aug 28, 2014

Hi - I am truly at my wits end.

If I cannot get Articulate to print intelligible results and scores, and allow for proper review without an LMS, then I will have to find an alternative programme. I have read the many posts regarding customising print results, but I am not a programmer at all and am not equipped to start modifying html files (or whatever they are called!)..

When I publish my matching drop down (or drag and drop quizzes) and work through the quizz, the following problems arise:

1. The review quiz screen shows the selections but not the correct answers that should have been selected. Also the font is all different sizes

2. When i select print results i get a table in which the questions at the start of the drop down quiz is displayed in the left column, followed by a column showing all the choices and their selected matches given by the student one after the other, barely readable. THen a third column with the same jumbled format of the correct choices and matches. These results are barely readable by me, and certainly won't be intelligible to a student.

3. Finally, it gives a score of zero if just ONE of the drop down choices is incorrect.

I am pretty desperate. is there anyway around the above? If I could just get it to sort out the print results function without manipulating programme files and script '(which is apparently unsupported' by Articulate anyway).?? I could probably live with the rest..

Hi Allison,

I'm sorry to hear about the behavior you've run into, and I hope I can provide a few answers to help you out:

1. On a quiz review, you'll be brought back to the matching drop down slide and you should see the users answer in the drop down fields, and the correct answers to the immediate right. If you're not seeing any users answers, you may need to check that your revisiting properties are set to "resume saved state" For a matching drag and drop, you'll see the choices and their matches numbered indicating which one they would match with.

2. There isn't a way to adjust the printed results and how the correct answer or student answer displays, unless you look into modifying the report.html file that appears in the published output. As you mentioned, we don't support modifying the published output and if you'd like to see further documentation on what we do support you can view our support policy here.

3. We don't have an option for partial scoring within any of our built in questions, although there are a number of community generated methods to allow for partial scoring on custom created questions.

If these are particular elements you'd like to see in future versions of Storyline, please feel free to share your thoughts here in the form of a feature request.

Hi Ashley

Thanks so much for your input.

It does confirm what I thought.

The problem with the matching drop down and drag and dropoptions are that they display the instruction /question for the whole quiz onthe left in one cell then ALL the choices and answers one after the otherwithout any gaps or spaces together in one cell on the right. In other wordsthe printed results don’t distinguish each choice and its matching answer in aseparate cell. This makes it virtually impossible to compare student versuscorrect answers – especially as my choices are quite complex, being aboutbehavioural change situations, so are longish sentences..

Is there a way to make Articulate ‘see’ each choice and itsmatch as a separate ‘question’ so that it puts the correct match in a separatecell for each choice..? (without having a separate slide for each one- theyneed to see all of them together before they submit..

otherwise, e-learning heroes out there, is there another 'illegal' way of doing this??

Hi Alison,

There isn't a way to adjust the display of the questions and answers within the print results - although you may be able to do something if you can modify the report.html file. There is a article here on how to do this to create a certificate, which may help you see the areas you can modify but please keep in mind it's not something we can support.

I hope others in the community are able to chime in here with alternative solutions!
