Problem using drag and drop in Question Bank with HTML5

Dec 31, 2012

Hi,

I'm creating a project where I have created 12 drag and drop slides (using freeform question) which are drawn randomly from a question bank of the drag and drop slides. It works as expected using preview, and when published to Flash, but the slides do not work in HTML5 (my intended output).

Perhaps on the same issue, I have created a 'Help' button on the master slide that shows a text box with instructions when clicked (using triggers). When you click outside of the help button, it closes. This again works in preview, and Flash, but with HTML5 it just opens, but won't close. I used the trigger 'when user clicks outside'...

Any ideas?

warmly,

John

Hi John. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

First, how are you viewing the published content? There are some browser restrictions that may cause issues if you're viewing the content locally. Make sure you're uploading the content to a web server or LMS before testing to see the best results.

Here's some more information on local content:

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review this article for details.
Second, check to see if the browser you're using is the best for viewing HTML5 content. Some browsers don't get along with HTML5 and this may be why some interactions are working properly for you in Flash, but not in HTML5.
Here's a full chart that shows what is supported in HTML5 and at the bottom you'll be able to see a comparison of the most commonly used browsers. For example, Internet Explorer 9 and 10 have limited support for HTML5 while Google Chrome usually scores the best in supporting HTML5.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks
Christine
