Problem w Published Storyline 3 w Interactions

Aug 01, 2017

Hello everybody!

I am using Storyline 3 and have an Engage interaction inserted into two places in my project. I'm new to Storyline (my experience is in Adobe Captivate so I do have an understanding of how to do some things in here) and am hoping to get some experience from you more savvy folks!

Here's a little bit on what I've got going on:

  1. I cannot open the interaction via Engage using the button in Storyline. Nothing happens.
  2. When I publish my file, the flash version works as expected. The HTML5 version, it gets hung up on the first interaction. The interaction itself works, but the Next / Prev buttons do not work.

Here's what I have on my deskt0p:

  • Browser: IE11
  • Storyline 3, Engage '13
  • Slide Property navigation in Storyline is set to display Prev & Next buttons
  • Verified the Player Triggers for the Jump to Next Slide are set to Jump to next slide when user clicks the next button or swipes next and vice versa for the Jump to Previous Slide

I've cleared the cache & cookies, I've restarted Storyline and even Engage, and nothing still works. Let me know if there's any other info needed to help resolve this!

Thank you for your help!

Jenn

Hi there Jennifer, welcome to the community! We're glad you're here. 🌟

I'm sorry you ran into these issues! We're seeing them too, specifically...

  • Engage Tools (Preview, Open and Edit in Engage) don't work in an Engage '13 interaction imported in Storyline 3.
  • Imported Engage interactions do not load when viewing the HTML5 version of a Storyline 3 course.

We're hard at work to find a fix for these issues, and I'll tag this post for follow up if we get more information regarding a fix. Until then, try these workarounds:

  • Open the interaction directly in Engage to edit it.
  • View the Flash version of the course (instead of the HTML5 version).

Thanks again for reaching out, and I'm really sorry this is slowing you down.

Hi Ashley-  I came across this thread since I was searching for help on why my Engage interactions were still being imported as flash objects. Engage interactions are imported as Flash objects.  I have the latest build of Storyline 3 (3: 3.3.15007.0) and I still cannot view my Engage interactions (blank screen) in HTML-5 version of course (while using flash fallback, but IOS mobile devices don't use flash at all).  Your reply above (8 months ago), indicated that a fix was available.

Can you give me an update?

Thanks.

Hi Melissa,

So sorry for the trouble you're having. I just tested this in a new Storyline 3 file, and I also wasn't able to view the Engage interaction in Safari on iPhone 6S iOS 11.3. It looks like this bug has resurfaced--I'm going to get with my team so we can start looking at next steps.

I'll keep you posted on any updates I receive. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention!

Hi Leslie - I just saw that an update to Storyline 3 was released August 16, 2018 (Build 3.5.16548.0). I did not see a bug fix listed for Engage interactions being imported as flash objects.  Can you verify what the status is with this bug before I try republishing my course with this latest build? Thanks.

So sorry you've also come across this problem, Kevin.

While I don't have any new information to share at this time, I'll bring this one up to our team again. You're certainly in the right place for updates and we promise to keep you in the loop!

In the meantime, could you let us know what version of Storyline 360 you're using? To find this detail, click on the Help tab > About Storyline.
