Problems with video in Chrome and HTML5

Feb 13, 2013

Has anyone had issues with displaying video in Chrome and HTML5 when exported from Storyline?

I'm sure this was working the other day but now when I publish my course the videos won't work in Chrome using the HTML5 output.

The video starts then I get a white area where the video should be and the audio continues. I tried publishing on two different machines with different video content but I get the same results every time. Local or server doesn't make a difference.

The Flash output works fine and it works on iPad Chrome or Safari.

It's driving me nuts. I've tried everything I know of.

Chrome version 24.0.1312.57 m on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark!

Testing things locally always allows room for strange behavior because of security restrictions. Here are some of the most common reasons and solutions for video not playing properly in published content. This could be relevant, also.

Beyond that, I'd be happy to take a look at your project if you're able to share it, or send it to us privately

Thanks!

Hi Richard,

The issue eventually resolved itself.

If I remember correctly it was related to some sort of internal network cache. If I connected to another network the videos would show up.

I just tested again and everything is working as expected now, even if I'm viewing from the same network that I published/uploaded from.

Sorry I can't be more definitive.

Mark

Hi Donnis,

Thanks for reaching out here. This thread is a bit older, so I'm not certain it's the same issue. Is it only in the HTML5 output that you're having difficulty? Have you confirmed that you're viewing the HTML5 output in one of the supported browsers here.  Are you using the latest version of Chrome - as there was a recent issue detailed here.
