Publishing errors out. What else can I try please?

Apr 05, 2016

I'm rapidly losing the will to live, can anyone help me please. I've been trying to publish a course for 9 hrs now!!

I have no other programs open, each time I try I save the project. I even close it, along with Storyline and open afresh and then publish. My laptop is only a year old - over 700GB storage remains. I sometimes get a message that memory is low. I don't see how as I've so few apps / programs etc. I'm not technically minded though so if anyone can talk me through how I'd check if this is the problem it might help.

I've also shut down totally and re-started my laptop and then opened storyline and the project.

I've published courses larger than this one (15.5MB) in the past ok.

The course has 7 modules and a test of 23 questions. I tried splitting it into the course content and the test. Both publish fine.

Not always, but often it errors when generating the questions. There are 23 and often it errors between Q15 and Q19. No idea if this is relevant.

I also deleted the last 12 questions and it published fine.

I've been using Storyline for about a year now and although I love the tool itself publishing is always a problem and usually needs several attempts. 9 hrs is beyond a joke now.

I'd be so grateful if anyone has experienced the same and has a solution. I was due to deliver this today and have now missed my deadline.

Many thanks.

Linda

Hi Linda, sounds like one of these slides are corrupt. I would try creating a new project file and importing all the slides in except these Question slides. Then import them in one by one / publish and see which one is corrupt - that can get time consuming -.Alternatively rebuild those four slides and see how you go.

Thanks Wendy - I think I've no option but to try that next. Although with 20 mins publishing each time it's a days work in itself. I hadn't done it up to now because I can publish just the questions (by deleting all other modules) and it publishes fine.

After a 12 hour day, I'll start afresh tomorrow.

Thank you for responding - I don't feel so alone now :-)
