There isn't a way to create one single Storyline file, but I certainly understand your confusion. When you publish to CD, you'll be able to go to the folder where all the Storyline files are housed. There will be several folders and files, and the file that launches your course is called Launch_Story.exe. There’s also an autorun file, which causes your presentation to launch automatically if learners insert a CD or DVD containing your published output. Here's an example of how it would look.
I have seen previous posts where users suggested if you didn't need any interactivity to record a video of your Storyline presentation, and send that as one file.
