Question slide master font

Jan 09, 2023

I've tried searching for this several ways and come up with different ways to edit the slide, but not at a master level.

We created a quiz in Articulate 360 using an Excel import file. Everything is numeric for the inputs, so all quiz slides are numeric. We want to change the location of the input box for the entire file, the display size the student types, and if possible the background color of the input field.

I've created a 4 question quiz as an example. I changed the Text font to an extreme size and font face (72 Black) as an example. I've moved the Question Choice box to the bottom right. Here's where we see our first issue. The input field doesn't move the same way as the question choice box. If I make it larger, I sometimes get a smaller input. If I move it to the right, the input seems to move left, but if I move it left the input doesn't seem to move. The quiz on the actual project is 78 slides (1 input per slide following a case study file).

If I change from a question slide layout to another, I still don't get the input box to move in a way that makes sense, and the input font doesn't change. We also would like to change the input background.

Any thoughts, comments, or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Trey,

Thanks for sharing the sample project file! The Question choice box or placeholder in a slide master layout connects to the choices in other Storyline quiz types with options. Examples are True or False or Multiple Choice types. The Question choice placeholder does not apply to the Numeric question type. This is why the edits made to this placeholder are not reflected in your question slides.

The workaround is to format the input fields on the slides instead of the slide master. You can format the input fields by selecting the field and using the font and paragraph options on the Home tab. You may need to resize the input box if you'll increase the font size.

Once you've formatted an input field, you can use the format painter to quickly format the input fields on the other question slides.

Let me know if this works for you!

Hi Eric, thanks for responding. What I was trying to avoid was changing the format on 78 individual slides. When the user inputs the number the font is very small compared to the rest of the slide, so it looks unprofessional and wonky. We have 5 modules the students are required to do for this class, which is both classroom and homework. Each module is similar - there's a lot of data entry into forms for their jobs.

The format painter was what I was already thinking. How about location of the field? That's a lot more work obviously.

Hi Trey,

I'm glad you also considered the format painter workaround! For the location of the input boxes, you can modify the X and Y pixel coordinates in the ribbon to quickly adjust their positions instead of clicking and dragging them into place.

Here's a screen recording I prepared for you showing the steps.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks Eric - I do understand how to position objects, my concern is since it defaults to the top left of the screen, if I want it on the bottom right under an image we'll have, we'll need to do it 78 times. The X & Y will help keep it exact, but it still isn't something that can be changed on a master to do a 1 and done.
