Quiz Retry Results Calculation

Mar 31, 2015

I developed a 9 lesson course which has an exam question after each lesson.  Once the learner gets to the results slide, we want to give them the opportunity to retake only the failed lessons. See graphic below of the retry menu slide. Everything works great to this point, but if the learner hits finish after each question (before all are answered) and then returns to the retry page to answer more questions the results will calculate incorrectly because it will continue to reset at zero percent. My issue is, I can't figure out how to hide the "Finish" button and have it become normal only when all the failed questions have been answered. As indicated in the picture below, each button can be one of three states, disabled (green checkmark if the learner re-answered the question--disabled), failed (red x--not disabled) or passed (yellow star--not disabled). I've tried to hide the button when the state of all items are "Not Failed" meaning they are either Passed or Disabled, but that isn't working for me. I'm so very hopeful someone has an easy answer for me.

Hello Kendra,

It may be easier if you share the .story file itself, but just thinking out loud here. You could add a True/false variable to adjust  to "true" on the "success" layer timelines of the results slides, so it only happens when they pass, whether first time or on a retake. Then set the Finish button to appear on Timeline start of this slide above on condition that all the variables are set to true.

Hi Emily,

Thank you for your response. With the help of support at Articulate, I got the results page to calculate properly. I do have a new issue, however. When I am on the Retry menu page, the buttons should show a checkmark when it has been clicked on whether the learner answered the question right or wrong. The checkmark (disabled) is then the true variable for the finish button to appear. Although the checkmark doesn't show up, the finish button is appearing if the questions are answered correctly. If they aren't answered right, the learner is forced to continue taking the lessons/exam until they pass before it will appear. I want to give them just one chance to answer the question on the retry. How do I get it to indicate that the learner has selected the button with the green checkmark? Please find the story file attached. Thank you for any help you can offer :)

Hello Kendra,

It looks like there was no trigger to change the items to disabled when the variable was true in the Retry slide. I added this, and the checkmarks now appear, when they go through the course the second time.

See attachment, and the finish button will only appear now once they are all done from the retry slide. I moved the position to see it better.

See attached.
