When I preview or publish my project, random portions of the text will highlight a light purple color when my mouse hovers over. The cursor also turns into a hand like the text is clickable, but it's not. I have not added any triggers or state changes for these text items. They are just regular text boxes. This isn't happening everywhere; it seems to be random. Any ideas?
Exactly what Phil said. It seems to occur when copying/pasting in text from another environment such as Word and formatting elements are carried over. If you need to copy and paste, you may want to remove all formatting elements first or look at copying from Notepad or similar.
Thanks for the insight, guys! It does seem to be the copy/paste function from Word that is causing the issue; however, the "remove all formatting" button isn't fixing the problem. I haven't tried to copy from Notepad yet, but will see if that does the trick.
Thanks Shannon for the update and if you're able to test out in Notepad it should work as expected. Also, you could highlight all the problematic text and right click and chooes "remove hyperlink" as that should also update the text and ensure there isn't any lingering formatting.
Hi all, I seem to be having this issue as well... however, in my case the hightlighting seems to be even more random. It's not per sentence but really just parts of a textbox and 1 textbox can contain multiple highlights as well. In attachement you'll find a video of an exampleslide.
I don't seem to have the option 'remove hyperlink' or 'remove all formatting'.
Hi there, Anneleen. I see what you're saying. It would be really helpful if you can share the .story file of the course that is behaving that way. Can you attach it in your reply?
If you need to keep it private, you can upload it directly to us here. I'll test it out and let you know what I see!
Hi Crystal, I have a similar issue on my Chinese version (English version was fine). But instead of highlight, some Chinese words were bold for no reasons.
I did the "remove all formatting" but did not work. There are no hyperlink on those words because they were not copied from the internet. Please advise how to fix on this. Thank you!
I am experiencing the same issue. For me it only happens when importing translations for the following languages:
Turkish
Polish
Greek
Russian
Thai
All other languages are fine (e.g. Chinese, Korean, Italian, Spanish, Arabic,...). I opened my first ticket with Articulate Support in November 2017 and unfortunately no one was able to provide a satisfying solution. The ticket is still open. I already shared a Storyline file and Word docs. Currently I am simply covering the purple highlighted text boxes with transparent shapes. It works, but takes some time to do it for each slide individually.
Removing the formatting and reapplying the settings also works, but takes much more time, as I have to do it for each slide desperately.

Select the text box and choose to remove all formatting from the toolbar should fix it
I think there is some hidden formatting that causes it

Thanks Ashley! The "remove hyperlink" action worked! It's a much easier fix than trying to retype everything!

This is normally a font issue are you using a unicode font?

Thanks Phil! You were correct.
I ended up changing all to Arial Unicode MS although this font doesn't look that good...And it took time to change them in each slide and layer.
