Any suggestions on how to clear this red-x error? I am using SL 360. I have already re-started my PC, the course is saved to my desktop and course size is fairly small. I am using slides from the content library. When I right-click on an image to select a layout, thumbnails of the layouts do not appear. I do not have this issue with courses that do not use content library templates. Any ideas?

The next thing I would try is to import the slides into a new Storyline 360 project. If that doesn't seem to help, follow these troubleshooting steps.
